Arthur C Almy

February 27, 1925 — August 2, 2005

Arthur C. Almy 80 of Rotterdam died Tuesday afternoon August 2, 2005 at home after a long illness. Born in Schuylerville, NY, he was the son of the late Albert and Mary (Welch) Almy. A Marine Corps veteran of WWII, Arthur work for over 25 years at the General Electric Company retiring as a utility operator in 1986. he was a member of the GE ? century club, an avid bowler and a member of the Orbiter League at Boulevard Bowl, the Monday Night Mixed League and Summer League at Sportsman Bowl and a former Assistant troop Leader for the Boy Scouts. Arthur was predeceased in 1986 by his first wife Alda (Van Bumble) Almy. Survivors include his wife Ellamay St. Louis LaFountian Almy who he married on May 7,1993, four children; Arthur W. Almy of South Glens Falls, Kenneth M. Almy of Glenville, David L. Almy of Fultonville and Tommy C. Almy of Ballston Spa, his four step-children; David LaFountian of Charlton, Henry C. LaFountian of Hudson Falls ,Kenneth G. LaFountian of Alabama and Patricia Turner of Ft. Edward, his grandchildren; Jeremy , Jessica, Christian, Michiala, Melissa, Brian and Shelby Almy and Jennifer Campbell, his step-grandchildren; Sarah and Samantha LaFountian and 4 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Friday morning August 5 at 10:30am at Bond Funeral Home, Broadway & Guilderland Ave, Schenectady. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home Thursday evening from 6 to 8 pm for close friends and family. Internment will be in Schenectady Memorial Park. Contributions may be made in Arthur's memory to the American Cancer Society, 260 Osbourne Road, Loudonville, NY 12211 or to Community Hospice, 1411 Union Street, Schenectady, NY 12309
