Arlene Rowney

Arlene (Holden) Rowney 89, passed away on Wednesday August 25th at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady.

Born and educated in Schenectady, Arlene was the daughter of the late Joseph and Bessie (Clive) holden and a Nott Terrace High School graduate.

A homemaker, Arlene was a member of the Knights of St John St. Elizabeth Auxiliary , was a former bowler in the Knights bowling league and a former member of Immaculate conception Church in Schenectady.

Beside her parents Joseph and Bessie, Arlene was also predeceased by her siblings George Holden, Harold Holden, Charles Holden , Dorothy Bielicki, Hazel Benkert, Helen Ennis, Edith Millett and Nellie Riggiero.

Arlene is survived by her husband of over 67 years Robert M. Rowney Sr. who she married on September 6, 1953, her children Sandra Bloomer (late Lawrence) of Schenectady, Marceline Hughes (Dr. Richard) of Queensbury, Rochelle Closson (Ronald) of Schenectady, Robert M. Rowney Jr. (Kathy) of Clifton Park and Roberta/Robin Ramos (Moises) of Schenectady, 14 Grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Arlene’s life will be held on Tuesday August 31st at 11 am at Bond Funeral Home, Broadway & Guilderland Avenue, Schenectady, NY. A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10 to 11 am prior to the services.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Arlene’s memory to St Jude Children’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Pl, Memphis, TN 38105
