Arabella Dean Whittaker died Wednesday December 31, 2008 at Columbia Memorial Hospital in Hudson, NY after a long illness. Born in Albany, Dean was 83 years old and the daughter of the late Harold and Sophia Johnson McCoy. Dean was a 1943 graduate of Woestina High School and worked many years for the Wallace Company as a cashier and late retired from Fays Drugs on Guilderland Avenue in Rotterdam. She was a member of the Bellevue Reformed Church and an honorary member of the Ladies of the Rotterdam Elks. Beside her parents, Dean was predeceased by her husband James Whittaker Sr., a sister, Joyce Hennessey and brother, Harold McCoy Jr. She is survived by her step-sons James Whitaker Jr of Guilderland and Arthur Whitaker of Rotterdam, a step-daughter Ella Coulter of Phoenix, AZ and six nieces and nephews. Interment will be held private at the convenience of the family in Schenectady Memorial Park. Arrangements are by Bond Funeral Home, Broadway & Guilderland Avenue, Schenectady, NY.
