Anthony Samborin, 80, of Rotterdam passed away on Saturday, June 20th, 2015 at home surrounded by his family. Born in Schenectady, Anthony was the son of the late Jerry and Lena (Gentile) Samborin. A graduate of Mont Pleasant High School, Anthony worked in procurement at the Watervliet Arsenal for 36 years until his retirement in 1987. He was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, the Mohawk Valley Golf and Bowling Leagues and the Rotterdam Elks #2157. Anthony loved everything about the beach - to hear it, see it and smell it. Tony (Ripper) will be remembered for his story telling, life of the party and his love of life, family and friends. He always left people smiling and laughing. "It doesn't get any better". Anthony was predeceased in 2013 by his beloved wife, Rosemary (Faragon) Samborin whom he married in 1956. He leaves behind his children, Cheryl Sullivan (Brian) of Duanesburg, Anthony Samborin (Carol) of Rotterdam, Michael Samborin (Cheryl) of Ballston Lake and David Samborin (Liz) of Rotterdam, his sister, Phyllis Lincoln and niece, Leigh Lincoln both of Rotterdam as well as 6 grandchildren, Maria Cook (John), Samantha Sullivan, Travis Samborin, TJ Samborin, Alyssa Samborin and Ashley Samborin and 2 great grandchildren, JT and Braedon. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 24 from 11am to 2pm at Bond Funeral Home, 1614 Guilderland Ave., Schenectady, with a service at 2pm following the visitation. Interment will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Schenectady. Donations in Anthony's memory can be made to the Joan Nicole Prince Home, 22 Glenview Dr, Scotia, NY 12302.
