Anne Mazzarella

May 22, 1921 — May 20, 2015

Anne Mazzarella, 94, passed away peacefully at her home on May 20, 2015, with her daughters at her side. Born in Schenectady, Anne was the daughter of the late Thomas and Theresa Racko. She married Roy Mazzarella and they were happily married for 51 years prior to his death in 1994. A lifelong resident of Helderberg Ave., she cherished her home and family. Her family and her extended family were the center of her life. Anne had a great appreciation and knowledge of art, music, gardening and antiques which she passed on to her children and grandchildren. One could not ignore her enthusiasm and passion. Prior to its closing, Anne was a parishioner of Sts. Cyril and Methodious Church; she was very proud of her Slovak heritage. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her infant son, Michael, sisters, Mary Dykeman, Theresa Nicholas and Elizabeth Clem and her brothers, Steven, Joseph, John and Thomas Racko. Anne was also predeceased recently by her son-in-law, Joseph Gable. Anne is survived by her loving daughters, Marianne Maitino, Claire Mazzarella, and Patricia Fulgieri. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Lily and Gina Fulgieri, Erika (Jesse) Longfellow, and Carla (Harry) Maitino, great-grandchildren, Mia and Matthew, as well as her sister, Helen Shaver and many dear nieces and nephews. Her ability to remain in her home was also made possible by caring neighbors Dagmar and John Rossi and Kim and Carm Agosta. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, May 23 at 10am at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, 210 Princetown Road, Rotterdam, with Father Thomas Morrette officiating. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial will be in St. Cyril and Method Cemetery in Rotterdam. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in memory of Anne to Community Hospice, 445 New Karner Rd, Albany, NY 12205.
