Anna Mary (Hesler) Nealon

October 4, 1929 — September 29, 2023

Anna (Ann) M Nealon, 94, passed away peacefully on September 29, 2023 with family present at Baptist Nursing Home in Scotia, NY.  She was born on October 4, 1929. She was one of fifteen children of the late Frederick and Mary (Dunn) Hesler.  A graduate of Mont Pleasant High School and St. Peter's Hospital School of Nursing, Anna worked as an RN for many years, retiring from General Electric in 1990. She owned Nealon’s Home for Adults in Hagaman. Anna was a member of St. Kateri Tekakwitha Church and St. Anthony Church.

Anna was a devoted mother of 7, grandmother of 21 and great grandmother of 11. In 1988, Anna was predeceased by her beloved husband, Jack T. Nealon. Anna is also predeceased by grandsons, Kevin Nealon and Michael Durkan.

She is survived by her children, Marianne Durkan (John) of Hood River OR, Jean Nealon of Canton, CT, John, Jr. (Jack) Nealon (Diane) of Dallas, TX, Patricia Lamanna (William) of Seattle WA Michael (Jacquelyn) of Schenectady, NY, Kathleen McDaniel of Schenectady, NY, Mark (Gia) of Harrisonburg, VA.

She is survived by sister-in-law, Cathy Hesler and many nieces and nephews.

She is also predeceased by her siblings Joseph Hesler (Freda), Frederick Hesler (Virgina), Elizabeth Mott (Donald), Mary Ryan (Robert), William Hesler (Beverly) Charles Hesler (Evelyn), John Hesler, James Hesler (Janet), Thomas Hesler (Rita), Jean Hesler, Jane Hesler, Dorothy Hesler, Edward Hesler and Agnes Durocher (Arthur).

Our Mom’s passion was family. She loved her big family dinners and gatherings around the shoreline of Sacandaga Lake. Anna was a devoted Catholic who never missed early morning Mass. She enjoyed saying The Rosary each afternoon for the many people who counted on Mom’s prayers for some of life’s challenges.

A visitation will be held Thursday, October 5 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Bond Funeral Home. A prayer service will be held on Friday, October 6 at 8:15 a.m. at Bond Funeral Home, 1614 Guilderland Ave., Schenectady, NY 12306, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. at St. Kateri Tekakwitha, 1803 Union St, Niskayuna, NY 12309. Burial will take place at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Troy-Schenectady Rd, Niskayuna, NY.

The family of Anna Nealon would like to thank the staff on S2 at Baptist Nursing Home and Community Hospice for the compassionate care given to her.
