Angelo L Gizzi

January 30, 1923 — February 25, 2007

Angelo L. Gizzi,84 , of Harold Street Rotterdam passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Sunday February 25, 2007 at home. Angelo was born in Jamaica, NY and was the son of Louis and Lorenza (Palazzo) Gizzi. Angelo served in the US Army in WW 2 and was captured in Luxemborg and was a prisoner in Stalag 4A in Germany and escaped from the Prison. He was self employed as a Masonry Contractor. Angelo was a member of Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Rotterdam. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, the American Ex Prisoners of war of Northeastern NY, and the National 4th Infantry Division. Angelo was a 20 year member of Canali's Golf League and was an avid Horse racing Fan. He also enjoyed weekly card Games with his in Law's. Angelo is predeceased by two Brothers-Julius Gizzi and Anthony Gizzi. He is survived by his wife Yolanda Gabriele Gizzi whom he married April 18, 1948, two daughters Susan Caprara ( Ralph) of Rotterdam and Jean Holland of Albany, one brother Mario Gizzi of Rotterdam, also survived by 5 Grandchildren-Brian, Maria, Karen, Jason and Aaron, one great Grandaughter Ryah as well as several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be Thursday 8:15AM at the Bond Funeral Home Broadway and Guilderland Avenue Schenectady followed by a Mass at 9AM at Our Lady of the Assumption Church Princetown Road in Rotterdam. Relatives and Friends are invited to attend. Calling Hours will be Wednesday evening 6-8PM at the Funeral Home. Internment will be in St. Cyril and Method Cemetery in Rotterdam.
