It is great sadness that we share that passing of Analise “Ana” Magliaro, who found peace on Wednesday, April 19, 2023. She left this world surrounded by her loving family in her home in Niskayuna, NY.
Ana was born on December 27, 2005 in Rhinebeck, NY to Jeremy and Stacey Magliaro. She spent the first two years of her life living on the shores of the Hudson River in the Rondout of Kingston, NY, watching the tugboats go by from her living room window. During this time, she experienced a river community that embraced art and music. Her family then relocated to Albany, NY where Ana had a vividly colored childhood filled with family, pets, nature, laughter, adventure, and inquiry. Ana was always on the go, whether it be to playing Little League down the block, visiting museums, attending camps, playing guitar on the front steps with her dad, gardening with her mom, crafting with her siblings, or exploring local forest preserves.
As Ana got older, she took up the cello and was involved in the music programs at Albany Schools. She ran cross country and track, learned to quilt and taught herself knitting. Ana was a gifted, elegant dancer who studied ballet, pointe and contemporary dance. Ana formed big opinions, had big dreams and was a confident force of nature who could light fires in the souls of many people who knew her.
In the summer of 2021, Ana’s family moved to Niskayuna, NY and she was embraced by a brand-new community of people who grew to love her and understand themselves better because of her. Before starting her sophomore year at Niskayuna High, Ana spent the summer learning to row and discovered that she was extremely talented at it and found yet another new passion. She had planned on joining the Varsity rowing team at Niskayuna, but her health began to decline at this time due to cancer.
Despite her diagnosis, Ana remained a dedicated, successful and inquisitive student. She refocused her passions to the Niskayuna High Horticulture Club, and to painting and fiber arts. In her last good months, she knitted dozens of hats for the people she loved and gave them out freely. She had many more hats she wanted to knit, so if you knew Ana but didn’t receive one, know she probably would have made you a hat given more time.
Ana’s plans were to study Biomedical Engineering, and in her last week of life her transcript was reviewed, and she was granted early acceptance into Union College. While we are sad Ana won’t be able to experience many of life’s rites of passage, we do believe that she lived a big life and left a deep, meaningful impact on our world.
In addition to her loving parents, Ana is survived by her maternal grandfather Eugene Ballard, her paternal grandparents Edward and Diane Magliaro, her brother Julian Magliaro, her sister Maeve Magliaro, and her boyfriend Endri Hoxha. Additionally, she is survived by her best friend Bhoomika Lingappa, cousins Ella, Adeline, and Hannah Hubbell and J.T. and Maggie Taylor, as well as maternal aunt Deloria Ballard Hubbell (Robert Hubbell), paternal aunt Erica Taylor (Todd), paternal uncle Edward Magliaro III and an enormous extended family.
Analise was predeceased by her maternal grandmother, Sharon Ballard.
We want to thank the family, friends and community that have supported us while we navigated these times. We also want to thank the medical professionals and staff whose work helped allow Analise to experience an extra wonderful year of life.
