Alice Reed (Reed)

Alice Reed 98, passed away at home in Schenectady on Saturday March 26, 2022.

Born and educated in Schenectady, Alice was the daughter of the late Morris and Edna Schermerhorn Reed and was a graduate of Mont Pleasant High School and Albany Teachers College.

A lifelong resident of the Bellevue area in Schenectady and a member of the Bellevue Reformed Church. Alice was raised in the home where she was born. Her father worked for the General Electric Company and would walk out the back door and down the hill to work. She loved gardening and traveling all over the world with her library girlfriends. She loved spending time in her sunroom, enjoying the flowering trees, perennials and feeding the birds in her back yard.

Alice retired from the Schenectady County Public Library in 1984 after 35 years of service. Back in the day, Alice was a teacher in Oneonta and loved listening to classical music.

Funeral services will be held on Friday morning April 1st at 10:30 am at Bond Funeral Home, Broadway & Guilderland Avenue, Schenectady, NY. A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 9:30 to 10:30 am prior to the funeral service.

Interment will be in Memory Gardens in Colonie, NY.

A special thanks to all of the care workers over the years that made her wishes come true by allowing her to stay in her home.
