Alfreda Prokorym

Alfreda ( Pustolka) Prokorym, 89, of Daytona Beach, Florida formerly of Schenectady passed away peacefully on Friday March 22, 2013 surrounded by her loving and devoted family at Halifax Hospice in Daytona Beach. Alfreda was born and raised in the Town of Colonie. She graduated, from Draper High School in 1943.Alfreda was employed for the General Electric Company until her marriage in 1961 to her loving husband Frank Prokorym. During her marriage, she worked for the NYS Department of Taxation and Finance and the NYS Education Department. Later she was employed for the OD Heck Developmental Center. In 1989, Alfreda and Frank moved to Daytona Beach, Florida. Affectionately she was known to her family as "Freda Bear". Her quick wit and endless humor was enjoyed by everyone. Alfreda was a great sports enthusiast participating through out her life in softball, basketball. golf and many other sports enjoyed at her summer home on the great Sacandaga Lake and at their home in Florida. She also enjoyed traveling, gardening and reading. She was a caring and compassionate woman who helped everyone in their time of need. Alfreda was a communicant of the Church of St. Adalbert. Alfreda is predeceased by her sister and brothers- Helen Bousa, Thomas Pustolka Sr., Stanley Pustolka, Joseph Pustolka, John Pustolka, Richard Pustolka, Walter Pustolka and Michael Pustolka Sr and four nephews Donald Pustolka, Mark Pustolka, Thomas Pustolka Jr. and Richard Pustolka.. Alfreda is survived by her husband of 51 years Frank Prokorym , one daughter Linda Prokorym of Colonie, one nephew Jon Bousa of Colonie whom she considered like a son, one loving brother Robert Pustolka of Ballston Spa, one loving sister Isabelle Rocco of Daytona Beach as well as several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be Tuesday 8:15AM at the Bond Funeral Home Broadway and Guilderland Avenue Schenectady followed by a Mass at 9AM at the Church of St. Adalbert 550 Lansing Street Schenectady. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Calling hours will be Monday evening 6-8PM at the funeral home. Internment will be in St. Adalbert Cemetery n Rotterdam.
