Alfreda (Wesolowski) Hesler, of Mt. Loretto Nursing Home, Amsterdam, NY died Saturday April 28, 2012 following a lengthy illness. She previously lived on Lark Street in Scotia for 52 years. Born on April 18, 1914 in Schenectady, NY, Alfreda was the daughter of the late Joseph and Aniela Wesolowski. Alfreda was raised on a working farm on Curry Road in Rotterdam, and was a graduate of the former Draper High School. She was a product of the Great Depression where sacrifice and hard work was a necessity. Alfreda and her late husband, Joseph F. Hesler, valued education and their main goal was to see that their children receive a college education. They succeeded. Alfreda was a devout Catholic and could be seen at daily Mass at St. Joseph's Church in Scotia for many years following her retirement from the Scotia-Glenville High School cafeteria. She was also a member of the St. Joseph's Rosary Society. Alfreda was married to Joseph F. Hesler on 8/27/1938 until his death on January 29, 1969. She is survived by 3 sons and 1 daughter; Robert J. Hesler (Louise) of Bismarck, ND, John T. Hesler (Victoria) of Lewiston, ME, Gerald J. Hesler (Carol Ann) of Ocala, FL; and Joan Miller (Eugene) of Maplewood, MN. She is also survived by 1 sister, Isabel Boughton of Niskayuna, NY and 3 sister-in-laws; Anna Nealon of Scotia, Agnes Durocher and Dorothy Hesler of Schenectady and 1 brother-in-law Thomas Hesler of Guilderland. Alfreda was blessed with 11 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren. and one great great grandchild as well as several nieces and nephews.Alfreda was predeceased by 1 son, William Hesler and parents plus siblings; Chester West, Adam Wesolowski, Zigmund Wesolowski, Mary Kopcynski, Jane Szpak, Joseph West, Matthew Wesolowski and Irene Donovan. Funeral services will be held on Thursday May 3 at 8:45 am at Bond Funeral Home, 1614 Guilderland Ave. Schenectady, followed at 9:30AM by a Mass of Christian burial which will be celebrated at St. Joseph's Church, First St., Scotia, NY. Calling Hours will be Wednesday evening 4-7PM at the funeral home. Interment will be at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Schenectady. The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the staff at Mt. Loretto Nursing Home for their superior care given to Alfreda during the past 9 years. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to the City Mission of Schenectady, 425 Hamilton Street, Schenectady, NY 12301 or Mt. Loretto Nursing Home 302 Swart Hill Road Amsterdam, MY 12010.
