Albert Simkins, 84, of Charlton passed away Friday March 14, 2014 at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady. Born in Schenectady, he was the son of the late Albert and Harriett (Peters) Simkins. He served in the US Air Force as a Senior Master Sergeant. Albert was employed for 40 years as a Mechanic at the Stratton Air National Guard Base in Glenville. He was a member of the Rexford United Methodist Church. Albert was also a member of the Air National Guard Lt.Gordon Rydell Memorial Pipe Band. He enjoyed hunting, gardening and the outdoors. Albert is survived by his wife Doris Ann Linscott Simkins whom he married July 29, 1950, three sons John A. Simkins (Kathleen) of Galway, Harold A. Simkins (Cindy) of Scotia and Jerry A. Simkins of Scotia, one daughter Janice A. Kraft (Joseph) of Delaware, also survived by six grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Funeral Services will be Wednesday 10:30AM at the Bond Funeral Home Broadway and Guilderland Avenue Schenectady. Calling hours will be Tuesday evening 6-8PM at the funeral home. Internment with full military honors will be at the Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville.
