Albert E. Rowbotham, 90, of Scotia passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning October 15th, 2008 at his home. Born and educated in Schenectady, Albert was the son of the late George and Winifred (Jackson) Rowbotham. Albert worked for The General Electric Company as a Machinist for over 40 years upon his retirement. He also served his country during WWII in the 97th Infantry "The Trident Division". Albert fought in both European and Asia Pacific Theater of war, including Battle of the Bulge and Siege of Bastogne. He was a member of the Mason's Lodge #1174 where he was a Master Mason of Fifty years. Albert was a professional photographer, a former member of the Lake George Power Squadron, loved square dancing, boating and camping. Albert was predeceased by his beloved wife of 57 years Irene, who passed away in 2006. He was also predeceased by his two brothers George and Frank Rowbotham. He is survived by his son Glenn A. Rowbotham of Northville, and his brother-in-law Elwood Longenbach of Easton, Pennsylvania. Albert is also survived by his nieces and nephews Patricia Plantenberg, Peggy Rudolph, Jerry Longenbach, Theresa Borger, Pamela Coxe-Cooper, and Vyonne Gillen. Funeral services will be Wednesday October 22nd 12:30pm at the Bond Funeral Home Broadway and Guilderland Avenue Schenectady. Relatives and Friends are invited to attend. A calling hour will be held from 11:30-12:30pm prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations in Albert's memory be made to the Animal Protective Foundation, 53 Maple Avenue Scotia, New York 12302.
