Adamantia (Deena) Menagias, age 86, of Schenectady, passed away peacefully Friday, November 13, 2015 with her loving family by her side. She was born on the island of Cephalonia Greece in 1929. At a very young age, Deena lost her parents and helped raise her siblings before entering a Catholic orphanage. In 1950 she married her love, Phillip and they had four children. She endured great hardships during World War II and a severe earthquake in 1953. In 1967, her family came to America where she was very proud, that her family established two landmark restaurants- the Blue Ribbon Restaurant and Broadway Lunch in Schenectady. She was very happy with her children's successes and fond of her grandchildren. Deena a very religious woman was well known for her charitable nature and concern for the well-being of others. Her love and generosity was felt by everyone she met in life. She loved animals, enjoyed singing and reciting hymns from her past. She is survived by her four children, Angelo (Alexandra), Jerry (Angela), Vicky (Steve) and Katerina. She is also survived by her brother in law Demetrios (Anna), her nephew Demetrios, niece Maria, 11 grandchildren, and one great grandchild. Funeral Services will be Monday 11am at St. George's Greek Orthodox Church 107 Clinton Street Schenectady. Relatives and Friends are invited to attend. There will be no calling hours by request. Internment will be in Parkview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make a memorial contribution to St. George's Ladies Philoptochos Society, 107 Clinton Street, Schenectady NY 12305. Arrangements are by the Bond Funeral Home Broadway and Guilderland Avenue Schenectady.
