Obituary

Sarah “Sally” A. Cullen, 86, of Sarasota, Florida, passed away on January 12, 2019 at Niskayuna, New York.

Sally was born on April 24, 1932 in Allentown, Pennsylvania. She lived a wonderful and full life, while raising her children on Long Island, New York, and then after moving to Florida. She was a very active woman, always on the go with family and friends, and immensely enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She loved to entertain, shop, travel, had a wonderful sense of humor and a lovely voice. She thoroughly enjoyed being a member of her church’s choir, as well as singing with the internationally renowned Sweet Adelines for many years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Sarah Jane McArdle; husband, Thomas A. Cullen, to whom she was married 49 years; and her daughter, Christine A. Cullen. Sally is survived by her son, Thomas A. Cullen and daughter-in-law, Rebecca Turner Cullen, of Niskayuna, New York, and her son, Kevin Cullen and his wife, Lydia Cullen, of Hicksville, New York; her grandchildren, Krystina Cullen, Matthew Cullen, Tyler Cullen, Harrison Cullen, Chloe Cullen, step-grandchildren, Samantha Desourdy and Jacob Beebe, step-great grandchild, Summer Desourdy, and numerous in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Tom and Rebecca Cullen wish to extend their heart-felt thanks to the wonderful women who loved and cared for mom over the last couple of years of her life spent in Niskayuna, New York: Kelly Concepcion, Mary O’Brien, Diane Chan, Eileen St. Pierre, Nitsa Roman, Kathryn Nowosielski and Cara Nowosielski, and to the beautiful ladies of Takecare during mom's time in Florida: Lakeshia Lovell and Salina Waters. You all helped to make mom’s last moments on earth happy and comfortable ones – you are truly God’s angels.

There will be a service held on Saturday, January 19th at 11:30am at St. Paul The Apostle Church, 2733 Albany Street, Schenectady, New York, followed by a mourners’ luncheon. Mom’s inurnment will be held at 1:00pm at Robert Toale and Sons Funeral Home at Palms Memorial Park, 170 Honore Avenue, Sarasota, Florida on Saturday, January 26, 2019, followed by a mourners’ luncheon.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Manatee Food Pantry, 3231 59th Drive E, Unit 101, Bradenton, Florida 34203.

Heartfelt Sympathies

Sally was a wonderful, kind woman who was faithful to Incarnation Church. She especially loved singing in the Choir and was a wonderful Soprano. She had the choir over for a pizza party. We stayed for Hours! May the Lord grant her peace, light and refreshment. Sincerely, Jeanette LaVoy

It is with great sadness we learned of Sally's death from her son, Tom, today. We loved her dearly, enjoyed good times and not so good times together while Tom & Sally, Ken & I lived in Sarasota/Bradenton area of Florida. We will miss her love of music and fun and laughter. You can now rest in peace, Sally Ann, with your beloved husband and daughter, Chris. May God enfold you in his loving arms forevermore.
With our love, Bonnie (2nd cousin to Sally) and Ken Briggs
